The forecasters said spells of prolonged and often heavy rain will continue to affect parts of England, before clearing from most areas this evening.
According to the Met Office 20-40 mm of rain will fall quite widely, with a few locations seeing 50-70 mm within around 12 hours - the wettest weather is likely to be over parts of East Anglia, the East Midlands and south east England, as far west as Hampshire.

This also means spells of heavy rain may lead to some travel disruption and flooding, with thunder possible towards eastern coasts.
In Sheffield, occasional heavy rain is expected during the afternoon, with a maximum temperature of 18°C on Friday.
But Saturday will see the early rain clear, with variable cloud cover will allow warm sunny spells to develop, but a few showers are still expected as the temperature is expected to reach 21°C.
