'Heavy snow' warning issued for Sheffield this weekend - with temperatures set to plummet

The yellow weather warning is in place this Saturday, January 30, from 3am to 6pm.

The Met Office warning states that snow, heavy at times, may lead to some travel disruption.

It says there is a chance of travel delays, with vehicles and passengers becoming stranded, and a small possibility of power cuts and disruption to mobile phone coverage.

Sheffield is at the north-eastern edge of the region covered by the weather warning, which stretches from Oxford in the south to North Wales.

The Met’s forecast for Sheffield on Saturday suggests there is actually a relatively small chance of snow or any other precipitation within the city, though temperatures are expected to fall as low as 1C and it will feel like -2C.

On Sunday morning, a low of -2C is predicted and it is expected to feel like -5C.
