'Heavy snow' is forecast for Sheffield this morning - this is when it is predicted to arrive

The Met Office has forecast ‘heavy snow’ for Sheffield, with the first snowfall predicted to come as early as this morning.

The white stuff is predicted to arrive at 11am today (February 28), with a couple of hours of sleet coming first, according to the Met Office.

The ‘heavy snow’ showers are then expected to last until 1pm, when heavy rain is forecast to begin, and last until 5pm.

After that the forecast is for it to be cloudy and dry.

Temperatures are also forecast to be low this morning, with lows of 1C during the period that is expected to be snowy.

It will warm up after that, with highs of 9C around 8pm.

The Met Office has also issued a yellow weather warning for parts of Sheffield and the Peak District.

It says: “Some roads and railways likely to be affected, leading to longer journey times by road, bus and train.”
