WEATHER WARNING: Torrential rain to lash Sheffield for FOUR DAYS

The Met Office has issued a number of Yellow Warnings for heavy rain for the Sheffield area.

Torrential downpours will breaking out this afternoon and last into this evening, overnight and into tomorrow. Some of the showers could also be thundery.

An inch of rain could fall in a time period of an hour to two hours with some areas seeing nearly three inches of rain in a three to six hour period.

The first Met Office warning states: "Areas of rain, locally thundery, will develop across the warning area during Thursday afternoon, evening and overnight.

"This will be heavy at times and may lead to some localised disruption. Lightning will be an additional hazard."

During the course of Saturday heavy rain will develop and these downpours will become prolonged overnight and into Sunday.

The rain will stick around on Sunday morning but will peter out as the day goes on.
