More snow could be on the way today as weather experts predict further flurries across Sheffield and South Yorkshire.
A wave of freezing weather is set to strike again and Met Office forecasters suggest more snow could be on the way through the day as the wintry snap continues.
Up to as much as 5cm of snow was predicted to have fallen overnight in some areas with temperatures plunging to freezing.
Weather experts issued a yellow weather warning for snow across Yorkshire yesterday, which remains in place throughout today.
The Met Office has also urged people to take care because snow showers could disrupt travel.
Met Office forecaster Helen Chivers said: “The forecast for Sheffield today is a lot of showers around first thing, but later on we will get some sunshine.
“The showers will come and go as the afternoon goes on, so we should start to see some longer dry spells.
“Obviously we all need to be aware of the fact that travel could be affected by snow showers.”
But the weather should brighten up towards the weekend.
Sunshine is forecast for Friday and Saturday, with peak temperatures of 5C forecast.
