Heavy rain is forecast for Sheffield tomorrow - prompting the organisers of one popular community event to cancel in advance.
Sharrow Festival at Mount Pleasant Park was due to take place on Saturday but has been postponed until August 22 ‘due to expected bad weather.’
Forecasters at Meteo Group have today said that showers could begin as early as this afternoon, although temperatures will stay at around 22 degrees after a spell of sunshine.
Tom Tobler, forecaster, said: “Overnight there will be some more rain setting in and on Saturday there is a good chance that it will hang around.
“It will probably be quite heavy at times on Saturday morning and by the end of the afternoon it should be drying out.”
The maximum temperature on Saturday is likely to be around 15 degrees.
On Sunday it is likely to remain ‘cloudy and damp’, with temperatures of about 13 degrees.
Mr Tobler added: “If you can get out at lunchtime today that’s probably your best chance to make the most of it.”
Organisers of Sharrow Festival said on their Facebook page that ‘much of the festival would not happen’ if it was raining all day and so they had decided to cancel.
The after party - now dubbed the ‘before party’ - is still to go ahead at The Cremorne pub on London Road from 8pm, with several live bands performing.
