The owners of a much-loved restaurant said they'd 'had a ball' as they bowed out after 30 years of keeping Sheffielders fed and entertained.
The Baldwins Omega banqueting suite in Brincliffe has become somewhat of a city institution, earning a reputation not just for the quality of its food but its ability to guarantee diners a lively night out at the numerous events it hosted.
David and Pauline Baldwin, who took over the venue more than 30 years ago, called it a day at the weekend and the restaurant on Brincliffe Hill is due to be replaced with flats after planning permission was granted earlier this year.
Signing off, the couple wrote: "We would like to thank everyone for your support and custom over these wonderful years.
"Although we will no longer be in operation, you can still enjoy the great standard of food from our long standing staff at Omega at Abbeydale.
"Steve (head chef), Jamie (operations manager) and Angela (head waitress) look forward to welcoming you and looking after you.
"Thank you all so much for your truly kind words and for sharing your memories with us. We've all had a ball together!!"
Customers returned the love on social media, with many telling how the restaurant had been the scene of some of their most cherished memories.
Paula Irving wrote: "No one will ever do it better. Thank you and enjoy your retirement."
Julie Cade commented: "It will never be beaten... fabulous memories."
Danielle Rodgers wrote: "Wonderful memories stretching over many years from school proms, works Christmas parties and my wedding. Have a lovely retirement and looking forward to catching up with the rest of the crew at Abbeydale.
And Lajla Turner said: "Had my eighth birthday (many many moons ago) at Baldwins Omega and will never forget all the amazing memories over the years. No one does it better. Happy retirement!"
Mr and Mrs Baldwin last year explained they had decided to close due to a drop in demand for events during the week, which they put down to a 'changing world' in which people no longer go out as much as previous generations, as well as the duo's advancing years.
