We should be grateful

The river Don in Sheffield is flowing fresh and clean after many years of pollution from industry.

Fresh water salmon are to be introduced, but they will only stay if the water is kept in good condition as they love to swim upstream to feed and breed.

Other fish may be in the Don such as perch, roach, and bream, and of course the otters will be back as they like a salmon or two for their dinner and to play around and build their habitats.

We should all be grateful to Yorkshire Water who have done a tremendous job to bring the river to the level we find it today.
