'We just need that bit of luck' says Sheffield Tigers ace
Sheffield Tigers heat-leader Charles Wright is hoping Lady Luck will help them make a late charge for the play-offs.
It’s been a tough old defence of the second tier title for the reigning Champs who are at the wrong end of the table with fixtures running out.
But Wright insists they’re not too far away from fortunes turning in their favour.
“The team spirit is there,” Wright said.
“We all get on and we all believe in each other.
“I’m not saying we need to wake up because we’re all giving it our best.
“But for me we just need one bit of luck where something suddenly clicks and I think we’ll be okay then.
“I believe we were unlucky at Lakeside and at Peterborough the other weekend but there was just something missing.
“We’re not stupid though, we know that needs to happen very soon before it’s way too late.
“I’m not sure we’ve got over losing Josh (Bates) to be honest; but we can’t really use that as an excuse because that happened months ago now.

“We just need to step things up a little bit and make a late charge for the play-offs.”
And Wright admits he was stunned his side let a ten-point lead slip at home to Lakeside on Thursday.
“As a rider we don’t actually pay too much attention to the score because we’ve got so much going on in between our races,”
“But I knew we’d got a couple of 5-1s early on and I knew we were winning.
“But then when I went to Steady (Simon Stead - team manager) and he told me we were losing I was like ‘what’s going on?’
“They were just gating better than us and because of the way the track was, if you didn’t get out in front it was very hard to pass.”
The Tigers fixture at Scunthorpe last night was postponed 30 minutes before scheduled start time following a thunderstorm in Lincolnshire.
