'We have a responsibility to 300,000 Sheffield Wednesday fans around the world'

Carlos Carvalhal says motivation is not an issue among players at Sheffield Wednesday because he constantly hammers home the responsibility they have towards the club's supporters.

Wednesday could do with a lift as they head to Fulham on Saturday, off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town at Hillsborough before the international break.

However Carvalhal says it is the knowledge that the mood of thousands of people could rest on their shoulders that drives on his players, no matter who they are playing or what the occasion is.

"We will fight for the three points like they (Fulham) will fight for the three points," said the Owls head coach.

"We don't have any special motivation because, as I tell you before, all the time we represent Sheffield Wednesday, we must be with 100% motivation all the time.

"You don't need extra motivation. You must do your job, you express on the pitch, I don't know maybe 200,000 or 300,000 fans that Sheffield Wednesday have here and around the world and we make these people happy or unhappy in 90 minutes.

"My players know that, know this is a responsibility and what we want from deep in our hearts is to fight a lot, win the game because we know after the game there are a lot of people, the massive supporters of Sheffield Wednesday around the world who will be happy if we win.

"My players know about that because I mention to them what they represent, our team and how many people follow the team, not just in Sheffield but around the world."
