Eagles were denied only their second victory of the Super 8s when Ryan Burroughs bagged a late converted try with two minutes remainin.

Despite his side being in a winning position entering the closing stages, Aston stated it would have been an undeserved victor; the Eagles chief claiming his side's performance warranted nothing from the encounter.

'I've got no complaints, we got what we deserved,' Aston said. 'They are the team that wanted it more and you could see that. They haven't won away all season so to come here and get a result, no wonder they are happy. We gave ourselves a chance to win the game but we still lost it. We got what we deserved and we have got what we have deserved all year. They will finish above us now and justifiably so.'

In a tight contest, the teams cancelled each other out during the first-half but Barrow were the brighter after the interval. Eagles looked to have turned the corner with tries from Josh Toole and Mark Offerdahl putting the hosts in a winning position, but there was still time for Barrow to pick up a deserved victory.

'It would have been a steal if we would have won,' he continued.

'It frustrates the life out of me. I do not know what that represents because it doesn't represent this club and what we stand for. There's three sessions and one game to go and then I can put it to bed and then move on because it gets more painful.

'Even if we won next week, would it end on a high? Not really because the performances and the mentality and what we are in that changing room is not what we stand for and what we are about. It has petered out. Does it surprise me? Not one iota.'
