But last night's final group-game victory over Grimsby Town will be memorable for a host of United youngsters, who had their first taste of senior action.

And Regan Slater certainly won't forget the evening in a hurry, as he scored United's equaliser on his senior debut for Chris Wilder's side.

Slater, who captains United's U18 side, tweeted afterwards: "Over the moon with scoring on my debut for Sheffield united last night, can happily say it's the best feeling I've ever had! UTB."
