Watch video of blaze in Sheffield cemetery before firefighters arrive to extinguish flames

Firefighters are tackling a blaze in a Sheffield cemetery this afternoon.

The blaze at Wardsend Cemetery, Owlerton, was reported to South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue at 4.50pm and one engine was deployed.

When firefighters arrived they found grass, trees and bushes alight.

The fire extended to some of the graves.

The cause has not yet been revealed.

Wardsend Cemetery is an historic Victorian Cemetery which is the resting place of over 30,000 Sheffield residents and military personnel from the former barracks at Hillsborough.
