Sheffield MP Nick Clegg has blasted controversial TV presenter Piers Morgan as "pompous" and "sanctimonious" in a fiery TV clash this morning.
The former Liberal Democrat leader lost his cool with the Good Morning Britain host when the pair clashed in a heated TV discussion on today's ITV breakfast show.
The Sheffield Hallam MP became infuriated when he was grilled by Morgan about his party's broken promises over tuition fees.
The comment which caused Mr Clegg to lose his temper was: "A lot of students would look at you and think that was a pretty cynical move to promise the end of tuition fees and then treble them, but I will take you at your word that you are a bastion of non-cynicism in a otherwise cesspit of cynicism in Westminster".
Frowning, Mr Clegg could be heard muttering "what and extraordinary man" and then labelled Morgan "pompous" and "sanctimonious."
He said: "You are so pompous Piers, you really are."
Mr Morgan replied: "What's pompous about that? It wasn't me who trebled tuition fees!"
