Moments later, the first of the day arrived from Almen Abdi, making his first start in two months. The strike was deemed by Sky Sports to be the goal of the weekend and you could see why as the midfielder's first time effort rocketed into the Forest goal beyond Jordan Smith .

Forestieri then doubled the lead with a superb piece of control, skill and ingenuity to find the top corner with his back to goal and those celebrations were something else as the forward dived into the ecstatic and vociferous traveling support.

Ben Osborn pulled one back after an error by Vincent Sasso but Wednesday saw the game out comfortably and moved level on points with fifth-placed Leeds United who they play next Saturday, but more important put a seven point gap between themselves and seventh-placed Norwich City, with a game in hand.
