WATCH: 'Prince' Naseem Hamed's Thriller-style ringwalk before Wayne McCullough bout on Halloween night in 1998

It's been 18 years since Sheffield boxer 'Prince' Naseem Hamed performed one of the most memorable sporting entrances of all time, on Halloween night in 1998.

Hamed, fighting Wayne McCullough, walked to the ring to the sound of Michael Jackson's Thriller, with a mock graveyard, zombies and flames thrown in for good measure.

Designed by American TV producers, Hamed's ring-walk was criticised as in bad taste by many observers, who didn't approve of the association between a dangerous sport and a graveyard. But the stunt seemed to go down well with the boxing fans in the arena in Atlantic City, NJ, while McCullough - already in the ring - attempted to keep himself focused.

And Hamed's ring-walk on the night was due to be even longer than it planned out - he took a detour under some cables, before entering the ring with his customary backflip. He won the fight, and defended his WBO Featherweight title, by unanimous decision after 12 rounds.
