It's been 20 years to the day since Sheffield Wednesday's Paolo Di Canio famously pushed the referee over after being sent off for his involvement in a fight during a league match against Arsenal.

In a moment that will go down in Premier League history, the fiery Italian got involved in a scrap after a foul on Patrick Vieira before pushing referee Paul Alcock to the ground on his way off.

The match ended in a 1-0 win to Danny Wilson's side despite the interruption caused by the melee.

Di Canio's actions led to an 11 match ban and a £10,000 fine after Alcock's dramatic tumble to the ground.

Wim Jonk's foul on Vieira in the middle of the pitch sparked the scuffle between players from both sides as Di Canio grabbed, kicked and pushed Martin Keown, earning a red card.

Despite the sending off, a wonderful looping finish by Lee Briscoe in front of 27,000 fans at Hillsborough was enough to secure the Owls' third win of the 1998/99 season.
