WATCH: New video shows extent of damage to house struck by lightning in Sheffield

A new video has emerged showing the extent of the damage to a house struck by lightning in Sheffield last night.

More than 20 firefighters were deployed to the property on Millhouses Lane, Millhouses, after it was struck by a dramatic lightning bolt at around 7.30pm.

Damage was restricted to the roof of the three-storey property.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said five crews and a turntable ladder were sent to the house in the Millhouses and that everyone inside at the time escaped unharmed.

Violent thunderstorms swept across the north of England and Scotland, causing flash flooding in some places last night.

The Met Office issued weather warnings for parts of the country yesterday, with forecasters predicting 50mm of rain in two to three hours.
