WATCH: Match highlights of Sheffield Wednesday's impressive 3-1 victory over Sunderland

Three goals, three points and a third straight Championship win.

It was an excellent Easter Monday for Sheffield Wednesday as Jos Luhukay’s side claimed a 3-1 win at relegation-threatened Sunderland.

Lucas Joao opened the scoring in the 59th minute, rifling a right foot shot past Lee Camp after a good knockdown by Atdhe Nuhiu.

Although the Black Cats equalised hit back 90 seconds later through George Honeyman, Tom Lees and Nuhiu registered to ensure the Owls sealed their first win at Sunderland since 1969.

Kosovo international Nuhiu, voted Wednesday’s Player of the Month for March, said: “The team spirit was never away, I’ve been here five years and I’ve been through difficult spells and good spells, but the spirit is always there.

“We have had worse periods this season but we are picking up again as a team and its enjoyable to play.

“The manager came and gave me new confidence. Every manager has his own ideas, and probably he likes the way I play and work for the team so I will keep being this way.

“I haven’t changed since the beginning to now, I have played always the same, every manager sees you different and at the moment this has turned out well.

“I just try to do my best every game.”

With six matches remaining, Wednesday sit in 16th position, 13 points clear of the relegation zone.
