It's a bold claim, and one that's beyond impossible to prove definitively... but we thought we'd open it up to debate anyway.

Is Lee Evans' volley (his first one, anyway) against Middlesbrough last night, the greatest Sheffield United goal ever scored at Bramall Lane?

There's competition, for sure; even in recent times from the likes of Michael Brown and Phil Jagielka, before you consider any efforts from heroes of bygone ages like Tony Currie and Alan Woodward.

But Evans' effort must surely be up there, in terms of both technical ability and placement as he sidefooted the dipping ball with searing pace into the top corner of Darren Randolph's goal.

For good measure, he added a second volley just before half-time after good work from David Brooks, and United held on after Daniel Ayala had halved the deficit early in the second half.

"It's been coming," the Welsh international said. "I hit the bar the other week and I had a good chance against Cardiff that I should have done better with. But I know that if I get into those good areas, I should chip in with a few goals a season."
