Watch: Ex-Sheffield Wednesday star Chris Waddle '˜honoured' as Arctic Monkeys sing to him at Newcastle show
Sheffield Wednesday legend Chris Waddle was treated to a special performance from the Arctic Monkeys as he watched their show in Newcastle over the weekend.
Front man Alex Turner ended an a-capella version of '˜Mardy Bum' with a round of 'there's only one Chrissy Waddle'Â and 'walking in a Wadde wonderland' as the ex-Owls man watched on in the audience.
Turner and his band mates Jamie Cook, Matt Helders and Nick O'Malley are all Wednesday supporters and have even used guitar picks with Waddle's face on them when performing in the past.
Waddle, who made 109 appearances in a four year spell with the Owls between 1992 and 1996, took to Twitter to thank the band for the special tribute, saying: 'Thank you @ArcticMonkeys totally honoured.
'Saw the Arctic Monkeys last night in Newcastle how good are there thank you you're brilliant.'
The Newcastle show was the last leg of the Sheffield band's UK tour before they head to America next month.
Earlier in September, they made their long-awaited return to the city in four sold out homecoming shows at the Fly DSA Arena.
During the huge string of Sheffield shows, Turner told the crowd: 'We're the Arctic Monkeys from High Green baby! I ain't seen ya in ages.'
