Watch: From busking in Doncaster to performing on The Ellen DeGeners show for Rotherham youngster

Alfie Sheard, 15, was spotted by the world-famous American television talk show host after footage of him busking in Doncaster went viral.

A video of the talented 15-year-old singing with his guitar has been viewed by three million people, convincing the comedian to fly him and his family over to America.

Alfie, on his first time in America, appeared on the talk show before delivering an incredible performance of Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight.

But, the biggest surprise of the night for the 15-year-old came when superstar Ed Sheeran appeared on screen with a recorded message and a present for Alfie - one of his own signed guitars.

In a recorded message played on the show, he said: "Hey Alfie, well done for just being amazing and playing all the time. I have heard your stuff and everyone has been very complimentary about it.

"I wanted to take this opportunity to give you one of my guitars. The only way I'm giving you this is if you play it every day, it's an instrument it's not there to be looked at it's there to be played.

"I'm going to write play it every day. Keep playing, write as many songs as you can, do as many shows as you can."

The 15-year-old has uploaded a number of videos of himself busking on the streets of Doncaster to his Youtube channel which has more than 16,000 subscribers.

Ellen told her live studio audience that she had been dying to meet the teenager since she saw a video of him performing, adding: "What till you hear him sin, this guy is amazing!"

Alfie said told the comedian that eventually he wants to earn enough money from his singing to achieve his "ultimate goal" of taking care of his mother and make sure she doesn't have to work anymore.

Speaking on the Ellen show, Alfie said: "I first picked up a guitar when I was 12-years-old. My mum got me a couple of lessons but I was mainly self taught and the singing kind of went along with it.

"I love busking because I can do new songs that I've never done and when I see people walking past, smiling and videoing, it feels amazing. It feels like you're doing something right and I love seeing people smile to be honest.

"I mostly reinvest the money from busking into my music and buy new gear so when I want to buy a new guitar I don't have to go to my mum. I can do it myself which takes the weight off her shoulders because I don't have to rely on her.

"My ultimate goal is to go to my mum 'you don't have to work anymore, I'll take care of you'.
