The 1981 film, one of several uploaded to video sharing website YouTube, shows the remarkable raft of changes that have taken place in the city centre over the last three decades - showing lost buildings, shops as well as fashions and vehicles of yesteryear.

The two minute clip, uploaded by SHTE Films, shows Surrey Street, Norfolk Street, The Crucible Theatre, The Town Hall and Barker's Pool - and reveals how many areas looked before pedestrianisation.
