Waste recycling centres to open longer in Rotherham

Rotherham residents have more time to recycle now that the town's household waste recycling sites are opening longer.

Four council-run centres in North Anston, Greasbrough, Rawmarsh and Bramley are now opening six days a week from 10am until 6.30pm.

A Rotherham Council spokesman said: “Householders are asked to assist in recycling by sorting out their waste prior to going to the centres.

“Separate containers are provided at each of the centres for many different types of waste. Attendants are available to offer guidance to ensure waste goes into the appropriate containers for recycling.

“Currently, around 70 per cent of all waste received at the centres is recycled.”

Bulky items can be collected by the council, with three items costing £21 to remove.

The centres are open daily but the North Anston site is closed on Tuesdays, Greasbrough is closed on Wednesdays, Rawmarsh is closed on Thursdays and Bramley is closed on Fridays.
