Was your Christmas holiday a real turkey?

Have your say

Not everyone can enjoy a truly Merry Christmas – so a Sheffield pub restaurant is looking to bring a brighter New Year to a family that is down in the dumps.

Nominations are being sought by the Drakehouse Mill pub, Drake House Way at Waterthorpe, which is part of the Fayre and Square chain.

The winning family will receive a £1,000 cash prize as well as a family meal at the pub at Crystal Peaks retail park.

Allison Sissons, Drakehouse Mill manager, said possible winner could be families forced to spend Christmas apart, or who had suffered a power cut on the big day.

She said: “We’re promising a second helping of festive cheer to one deserving family, by giving them the opportunity to celebrate the Christmas they missed for free.

“Perhaps someone managed to burn the turkey or had some other kind of festive disaster – we’re looking for worthy families whose Christmas was more of a party pooper than party popper.

“Christmas should always be memorable, but only for the right reasons.

“That’s why we have enlisted the help of our generous Fayrie Godmother to hand this second chance on a plate to one family.

“If you or someone you know have a relative that was serving in the forces, you were working the Christmas shift yourself, or the festivities just failed to deliver, tell us why you – or they – are the most worthy family and we could be giving back the Christmas that you and your relatives missed.”

To nominate yourself, or someone you know to win the meal, get in touch via Facebook at www.facebook.com/FayreandSquare or at the website at www.fayre-square.com

However, people need to move fast – the competition closes on Friday, January 10.
