Warning over burning wood

Have your say

A NEW campaign has been launched across Sheffield to raise awareness of rules about domestic wood-burning.

Growing numbers of homeowners in Sheffield are installing wood-burners, multi-fuel stoves and open fires and using solid fuels to heat their homes.

But residents are being warned they must use a Defra-approved multi-fuel stove or wood-burner and that wood cannot be burned on an open fire at all. Fuel Aware advisors say those who do can be fined £1,000 per offence.
