Warning to motorists after M1 crash in Sheffield

This was the scene after a major smash on the M1 in Sheffield this afternoon, which prompted a police warning to motorists

Incredibly, no one was seriously injured when an HGV and a black Mercedes car collided on the M1 northbound near Woodall services, between junctions 30 and 31 of the motorway.

But police shared these photos as a valuable warning to other drivers about the dangers of failing to give way when entering a motorway.

"Please remember that entrances to motorways are Give Ways, do not expect approaching traffic to move over for you if they have nowhere to go.
