Warning of 'grants' scam
BARNSLEY Council is warning householders to be on their guard against cold callers using unscrupulous tactics.
It is targeting firms trying to get householders to pay for cavity wall, loft insulation or heating when it could be available free of charge with a grant. A spokesman said: “The council wishes it to be known that grants are currently only being offered in conjunction with two legitimate contractors, Viscount Environmental Ltd and Milford Group Limited.
“If householders are app-roached by any other company that alleges grants are not available, the householder should check with Su Angel on 01226 775184.”
