A 31-year-old man has pleaded guilty to Blue Badge misuse in Rotherham.

Oliver Luke Trepte, of Claremont Street, Kimberworth, pleaded guilty by post and was convicted at Rotherham Magistrates Court earlier this month. He was fined £125.

Martin Beard, parking services manager for Rotherham Council, reminded blue badge holders not to let friends or family use the permit without the actual badge holder being present.

He added: “We have prosecuted 76 cases since 2010, with more due in the future. Blue badges are for the benefit of the named badge-holders only. They are not for individuals to get closer access to shops or to avoid paying parking fees. We need to keep disabled parking bays free for genuine holders.”
