War memorial is granted Grade II listing status
Thurnscoe war memorial has been added to a list of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest, and granted Grade II listing status after a report stated it was ‘an eloquent witness to the tragic impact of world events on the local community.’
The memorial, located in Thurscoe Park, was designed by Captain M Tyas and produced at a cost of £750. It was unveiled on October 2 1920, commemorating 76 local servicemen.
