MOUNTAIN rescue volunteers were called out to save two walkers hurt in the Peak District.

The first had got into difficulties near Castleton, not far from the Old Mam Tor road, and suffered a leg injury.

Volunteers from the Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Teams went to the scene and quickly dealt with the incident, which happened on Sunday afternoon.

The second walker, a 68-year-old man, was out hiking in Hartington near Bakewell on Monday evening when he suffered a knee injury.

Rescuers placed the man onto a stretcher and carried him to a local farm.

The casualty was then driven by ambulance to Chesterfield Royal Hospital for further treatment to his injured knee.
