A walker in his 60s had to be rushed to hospital after collapsing on a footpath between Edale and Upper Booth.

The man, aged 62, was suffering acute abdominal pain and was being cared for by two passing walkers when volunteers from both Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Teams arrived to help.

The air ambulance also landed nearby, but the casualty’s condition meant he could not be airlifted and instead he was placed on a mountain rescue stretcher and carried to a waiting land ambulance at a nearby farm and transferred to hospital.

The man was from Bramcote, Nottingham.
