Walk in memory of campaign stalwart

A founding member of a community action group will be remembered at a charity walk.

Barbara Cawkwell – a stalwart member of the Residents Against Greenbelt Erosion group based in her home village of Killamarsh – lost her battle with cancer earlier this year.

Now members of the group have organised a charity walk in her name.

Pat Bone, secretary of the group, said: “Barbara was steadfast in her support of RAGE right up to her untimely passing.

“She was loved by all our members for her passion for the birds, animals and flowers inhabiting local green belt land and, together with her good friend Ann, she provided many wonderful photographs for our website.

“A walk in her memory will ensure that her passion endures.”

Money raised in the walk will be donated to Weston Park Cancer Hospital.

It takes place on Sunday, September 29, starting at The West End pub in Killamarsh and crossing fields for around one hour and 15 minutes. A buffet will then be held at the pub.
