Vouchers to help families

A SCHEME to help families affected by the floods in Rotherham is to be extended for the rest of the year.

Immediately after June’s floods a number of local companies set up a voucher scheme to help families with children caught up in the flooding.

This meant children could visit several leisure and entertainment centres free of charge during the summer holidays.

Now Rotherham Council's Children and Young People's Service has agreed to extend the scheme to the end of the year to take in the half-term and Christmas holidays.

But the vouchers are only available to families who have registered with the council for their Flood Payment Scheme.

Families who have registered are being given five vouchers which can be used until January 3 2008 and are worth 40 each to spend at any of the organisations involved.
