McDonald's staff are set to descend on the city centre shopping district for a litter pick tomorrow (Saturday, March 4), after it was selected in an online poll.

Members of the public are invited to join volunteers from the fast food chain, who will meet outside B&M Bargains Store, in Haymarket, at 10.30am.

The litter pick is part of the Great British Spring Clean, in which thousands of people across the country are set to take part this weekend.

The Star asked readers to pick between four areas to receive a clean-up, based on suggestions from our readers.

Just over 750 votes were cast, and the results in full were:

Burngreave - 6%

Castlegate, city centre - 43%

Neepsend (banks of river Don) - 27%

Page Hall estate - 24%
