Vote for Sheffield to be best city for great outdoors

Have your say

People in Sheffield are being urged to vote for the city as the best in Britain for those who love the countryside.

The poll, run by BBC Countryfile, comes weeks after Sheffield was hailed as the ‘outdoors capital of the UK’.

Research by Sheffield Hallam University showed that activities such as climbing and running generated £53 million a year for the local economy.

Some 66 per cent of Sheffielders also take part in outdoor recreation, above the national average, and two major conferences are coming to the city next year.

Now the aim is to build on that reputation to keep the momentum going.
