Volunteers wanted for canal work

Have your say

The Canal and River Trust is seeking volunteers to ‘adopt’ a one-mile stretch of canal or river in South Yorkshire as part of a project to transform miles of waterways all over the country.

In South Yorkshire the trust is seeking community groups, residents and businesses to look after mile lengths of waterway along the Sheffield and South Yorkshire Navigations, Stainforth and Keadby Canal and the New Junction Canal.

One project already involved is the Sheffield-based Adsetts Canal Project which was set up in 1987 and uses the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal to help people with learning difficulties develop new skills.
