Volunteers sought for Peak District conservation project

A MAJOR conservation project in the Peak District is seeking volunteers to help carry out a survey at various sites across the Sheffield moors.

The survey is being carried out by the Dark Peak Nature Improvement Area which was created to improve, expand and link up existing wildlife-rich areas within the Dark Peak, including the Sheffield Moors.

Ross Frazer, project manager, said: “These surveys will help us establish who is visiting our green spaces and why, and also give us an idea of what benefits people gain from their visit.

“This valuable information will help inform our conservation and public access work in the Sheffield Moors and ensure we do the best we can for both people and wildlife.

“We are looking for volunteers who enjoy the outdoors and who are confident talking to members of the public.”

The surveys will be carried out at various sites on Saturday, January 26, Sunday 27, Tuesday 29, Wednesday 30 and Saturday, February 2.
