Volunteers in town praised

MEMBERS of Rotherham’s voluntary and community sector were recognised at the town’s annual Community Achievement Awards.

Scout leader Jonathon Kirk collected the young volunteer award for his work at Broom Valley Allotments, where he helps the visually impaired.

Janet Worrall, secretary for the Friends of Boston Castle and Parklands and Moorgate Cemetery, who has been promoting Rotherham’s heritage for more than 10 years, won the 2012 volunteer award.

Friends of Clifton Park also received an award for protecting and developing Clifton Park for future generations.
