Volunteers help Sheffield river clean-up

Have your say

VOLUNTEERS, including refugees from Burma and the Malaysian and Singapore Society at Sheffield University, joined residents for a clear-up of the River Loxley.

The session was one of a series of events under the Great Trolley Mountain initiative organised by the River Stewardship Company, and took place near Malin Bridge.

In previous events 40 old shopping trolleys had been removed – but while the volunteers at Malin Bridge removed litter, no trolleys were found this time.

The River Stewardship Company is appealing for more volunteers to help out with weekly river clearance sessions on Wednesday mornings, Friday afternoons and the first Saturday of each month. Call Hellen Hornby on 07766 352932 or email her at hellen.hornby@the-rsc.co.uk
