Volunteers who give up their spare time helping others are to be recognised in Rotherham.

The Rotherham Community Achievement Awards take place on November 21 at the Carlton Park Hotel in the town.

The awards, organised by Voluntary Action Rotherham, are split into three categories: volunteer, young volunteer and project of the year.

Sheffield law firm Irwin Mitchell is sponsoring the project award.

Alison Gregory from the firm said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring such a prestigious award which recognises the work local people do to get vital projects off the ground.
“Without the voluntary sector many people would not get the support and advice they need to be able to live their lives to the best of their ability.”
