Volunteer to help parents

Have your say

FAMILY support charity Home-Start, which runs courses to help vulnerable parents, is holding its hundredth volunteer preparation course in Sheffield.

The organisation trains people up to be volunteers who visit families struggling to cope with the demands of parenting or those with disabled youngsters, who need an extra pair of hands.

Home-Start Sheffield is appealing for help to raise funds for its work by becoming a friend of the organisation or participating in a sponsored event.

A spokeswoman for the organisation said: “Many parents, desperate to do the right thing to give their children the best start in life, find they are fighting against the odds. We offer a lifeline.”
