A SOUTH Yorkshire scheme which helps poverty-stricken and homeless people has been named project of the year.
Shiloh, based on Westgate, Rotherham, aims to help people living in ‘poverty, transition, oppression and homelessness’ to rebuild their lives, by providing food, support and information so they can access health and housing.
The scheme was honoured at the annual Voluntary Action Rotherham awards.
Voluntary Action Rotherham chief executive Janet Wheatley said: “We are so pleased for Shiloh, their video of the project really touched the judges.”
Volunteer Jonathan Lang, said: “We are thrilled and humbled to win the award.
“A tribute, not just for today’s volunteers, but for those whose efforts in the past inspired us to pick up the baton.”
