You do not need to travel to France to tour the delights of an award-winning vineyard - with the experience available much closer to home.

Renishaw Hall, on the outskirts of Sheffield, is offering guided tours of its vineyard, once the most northerly in Britain.

Tours will take place on Saturday and Sunday, May 11 and 12, to coincide with the hall’s food fair, held from 10.30am to 4.30pm on both days.

A plant fair also takes place on the Sunday.

Kieron Atkinson, vineyard tenant at Renishaw Hall, said: “We’ve grown the vineyard in size and reputation and I am really looking forward to welcoming people to come and see this lovely plot of grape-producing land on the Renishaw estate.”

Tours will end with a tasting of Renishaw Hall’s sparkling wine.

Vineyard tours are also available on May 25 and 26, July 27 and 28, August 17 and 18, September 7 and 8, and September 21 and 22.

The food fair will host more than 20 stalls selling everything from homemade cakes to hand-crafted silver jewellery.

Entry for the Food Fair is free, although car parking costs £1. Garden entry is extra, and entry to the Plant Fair is £2 per person or free with general entry to the gardens.

Vineyard tours and tasting sessions are held each day at 11am and 1pm.
