Villages hit by power cut

More than 4,400 homes across the east of Doncaster were affected by a power cut yesterday.

Engineers from CE Electric spent most of the day trying to trace the cable fault which blacked out properties in Dunscroft, Dunsville, Hatfield, Barnby Dun and part of Armthorpe from 4.30am.

About 1,600 customers had electricity restored an hour later and a further 500 were switched back on by 9.40am.

A CE Electric spokesman said the vast majority of consumers were back on by 10.15am but some in the Park Lane area would probably need to be supplied by a generator.

“We are still investigating the fault and apologise for any inconvenience,” he said.
