A meeting is to be held to encourage residents to fight plans to drill for gas in part of Derbyshire.

The village of Calow is up in arms over proposals for exploratory drilling known as fracking on a green field site between Dark Lane and Top Road.

If Alkane’s plans get the green light it could lead to a gas extraction plant being built in the area, which would remain in operation for 15 years.

Representatives from Alkane and campaign group Frack Off are to attend the meeting in Calow Primary School hall on Tuesday at 7pm.
