CONSULTATION sessions are being held at a Sheffield children’s centre which could be closed as the council reorganises its services for youngsters.
The sessions are being held at Shiregreen Children’s Centre today and next Friday, January 25.
Proposals are being discussed to shake up the council’s early years services to save £3.5 million. They include shutting some of the city’s 36 children’s centres to create 17 ‘children’s centre areas’.
Grace Keane, aged 18, and a former volunteer in Shiregreen, said she was worried about the closures. “I think it’s important that children in less affluent areas are given opportunities,” she said.
Today’s session runs from 9am to 4pm, and next Friday’s from 9am to 4pm.
