His opponent, reigning champion Liam Cameron, from Sheffield came in 10 ounces under the middleweight limit at the weigh-in at iceSheffield today.

But Jenman, who had travelled from Brighton, came in two pounds two ounces over.

An hour later, he had another go on the scales, but was still a pound over.

That now means even if he beats Cameron, he cannot take the belt home.

Cameron said: "That must be demoralising for him. I don't know why he's come from Brighton if he knew that."

Promoter Dennis Hobson explained that if Jenman won the match tomorrow the belt would become vacant.

So Cameron will have to be at his best, he said against an opponent who took the fight as a late stand-in.
