VIDEO: Watch sickening moment man is whacked three times with wooden plank outside Sheffield club
Violence erupted outside Southey Social Club at about 5.15pm yesterday just as the World Cup Final match was being played between France and Croatia.
CCTV footage obtained by The Star shows several men arguing outside before one of them picks up what appears to be a piece of wood and violently hits another man three times over the back.

Club members named the victim as committee member John Allen and South Yorkshire Police confirmed he needed hospital treatment for cuts to his wrist and a head injury.
Club president Brian Ingram said: "It's shocking. We don't get trouble often in here and we don't need this.
"I am told he was taken away by paramedics. He had bruises and a bad cut on his arm I've heard.

The CCTV shows a white van pull up in Galsworthy Avenue, Southey Green, before five men get out and head towards the club.
There is an argument between the group and another man outside the venue - said to be Mr Allen - before stones and a glass are thrown.
The victim ducks out of the way of a flying piece of wood before a man in a dark-coloured t-shirt picks it up from the floor and begins striking him with it.
The group then flees the scene.

He also said the club committee would meet to decide if the group involved in the violence would be banned - so long as they can be identified.
Residents said the trouble started during the World Cup Final and speculated the argument may have been to do with football.
However this has not been confirmed by police and Mr Ingram added that he was not sure at this stage how it started.

Residents said Galsworth Avenue was cordoned off for several hours yesterday evening while police carried out investigations at the scene and made door-to-door enquiries.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "It was reported that a group of people were involved in a disturbance outside the social club.
"During the disturbance a 53-year-old man received a head injury and cut to the wrist. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
"An investigation is underway and officers are reviewing CCTV. Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 720 of 15 July 2018."
