Goals from Aiden McGeady - his first in a Wednesday shirt - Gary Hooper and substitute Marco Matias wrapped up an impressive away victory. The Owls even had the influential Barry Bannan harshly sent off with the game at 2-0.

Carlos Carvalhal said afterwards: "We are doing our best, game by game. I do not talk about promotion. It is not important to talk about it. What is important is to prepare for our next game, against Charlton. I do not want to waste one second talking about promotion. We must use our time to prepare for the next game, to control what we can control. Anything else is artificial.

"We try to win the next game, beyond that, we must not lose our focus and concentration. Winning our next game is within our control. That is the only thing we can control. So we will focus on that. We deserved the win and we deserved the goals, because we played good football and that is important. We won by playing good football. Our fans enjoy the way that we play and we are happy."

And the fans showed just how happy they were by joining in the after-match celebrations with the players, with Atdhe Nuhiu, as tradition now dictates, conducting the blue and white support.
